9 Moons Tattoo

Hey y’all, welcome to my first ever blog post!

For those of you who do not know, my name is Wokas and I have been tattooing out of Klamath Falls, Oregon for almost nine years now. I was one of the first female tattoo artists in this town! I specialize in some of the best neo traditional and color tattoos you’ll see in the area.

Now, down to business, the purpose of this post is to share some exciting news. I have opened a new tattoo shop in Klamath Falls and it is called 9 Moons Tattoo.

I’m going to be completely honest with y’all, when I first started tattooing opening a shop was the furthest thing from what I wanted to do. Even as I started out in my late 20’s I knew how much work running a business is and all I wanted to do was focus on my art and tattooing. I even had a few shop owners try to hand their keys over to me within the first few months of working with them, because they didn’t want to run a shop either! With less than a year experience in the industry I had clients, friends and family asking, “are you going to open your own shop?”. I don’t know why, but back then for some reason owning your own shop meant that you had reached the top of the tattoo game. But, to me, being at the top of the tattoo game meant being the absolute best artist.  That’s what I meant to put my time in to.

Now, almost a decade later here I am…opening my own shop. When I was growing up in Chiloquin, OR I couldn’t wait to get the heck out of this county. I met my wife, moved to Bend OR, traveled, made lots of money and met lots of cool people. Eventually I found my way back to Klamath and I can honestly say I love it here. I’m not against living elsewhere but I do finally see the beauty in the simple living and the landscape which I completely ignored in my angsty youth. After moving back home and tattooing for years, I’ve worked in a variety of shops: busy low end street shops where the owner was on drugs that would get robbed every now and again. All the way to my own private studio which was by appointment only with coffee, tea, snacks and whatever you wanted to watch on Netflix during your session.

I know what’s possible with tattooing and I want to bring a taste of that to my town. This will be the first all female tattoo shop in Klamath Falls. I’d have to do my research but personally I have not heard of one yet in Southern Oregon. We currently have two tattoo artists and one permanent cosmetic artist. We offer a clean, professional and comfortable environment for clients who are invested in getting the best art and services for themselves.

With me is Willow Gray, who studied at Monolith Tattoo Academy in Bend Oregon under award winning artists. She specializes in colorful Japanese traditional work and also likes American traditional style designs. Willow is extremely dedicated to providing her absolute best work and her growth as an artist. She has been tattooing for a little over a year now which is hard to believe given how quickly she’s progressed. If you want to get a look at this prodigy and her artwork, she’s available on Instagram under @willow.rose.ink and Facebook under Willow Gray. I’m really excited to see where she is able to take herself in this career.

My wife and co-owner, Jamie, will be providing permanent cosmetic services. She specializes in powder brows, a gentle technique that involves a soft hitting cosmetic tattoo machine with a thin needle and specific cosmetic pigments. The procedure is painless thanks to the numbing agents that are used and the environment we provide will ensure comfort throughout the entire process. Jamie also offers freckle and lip blush services. If you haven’t met her yet, trust me…you’ll love her. If you’d like to talk with her about a cosmetic service message her directly under Soulful Brow on Facebook and Instagram.

Our intent in opening this shop is to provide an art focused and fresh atmosphere for people who are serious about their tattoos. I have been to tattoo shops in Portland, Grants Pass, Medford, Redmond as well as Bend. They have inspired me to know that whatever your preferences are, client or artist, there can be a space for you. I plan on having the best tattoo artists in Klamath Falls that are dedicated to their art and continuing to grow and learn in their craft and integrity as a human.

The shop is located at 1307 S Alameda Ave Ste D. The interior is open, bright and uplifting. The theme has unintentionally drifted in a Japanese direction with the décor and artwork my wife, Willow and I have between the three of us. And, of course, there will be plants!  There is free parking right out front, a mini market with a deli down the street and Fred Meyer in the other direction. We welcome everyone to stop in to have a look at the location and share with us in the evolution of the shop and artists.

Of course, this wouldn’t be possible without our clients so thank you to each and every one of you for getting tattoos from us. I really have made some great connections with some great people over the years. It has opened my eyes and filled my heart. We work in service of our family, co-workers and clients in the hopes that it can somehow produce a tiny bit of merit for all of the blessings this career has provided us. Thank you again and we look forward to seeing you at the new shop!
